All messages start with Good Morning All – I hope you had an amazing weekend! As always, I like to start the week off right with some words of motivation or inspiration:
“We Are Always Getting Ready To Live, But Never Living.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
We tell ourselves:
“Once things settle down, then I’ll enjoy life.”
“Once I make more money, then I’ll relax.”
“Once I lose the weight, get the promotion, buy the house, find the relationship, fix the problem, finish school, pay off debt… then I’ll finally live.”
The truth is life has a way of constantly moving the finish line. There is always another task... another goal... another responsibility... another fear. Another reason to delay joy, peace, creativity, adventure, rest, connection, or purpose.
Preparation can become a permanent state of wanting to:
start the business,
take the trip,
say how we feel,
pursue what matters,
repair relationships,
slow down,
enjoy our family,
or become the person we already know we can be.
Preparation can feel productive - but it is always looking forward and never being present.
Life is uncertainty, vulnerability, imperfection and risk.
Living is not something that begins in the future when we imagine life becomes fully organized and controlled. That day NEVER arrives.
We have to actually:
enjoy the conversation instead of thinking about the next task,
appreciate the people around us today,
experience the moment instead of constantly documenting, planning, or escaping it,
follow through on the things we keep telling ourselves we want to do,
and become fully present in the life we already have.
We often miss this because our minds are somewhere else:
replaying the past,
preparing and worrying about tomorrow,
or endlessly waiting for conditions to finally feel “right”
Life is happening now. Take time this week to realize what you are missing and where you need to be.
Have a great week!
Sincerely, Your Realtor Denis Hrstic
