Good Intentions Are Not Enough

Good Morning All – I hope you had an amazing weekend! As always, I like to start the week off right with some words of motivation or inspiration:

“Waste No More Time Arguing What A Good Man Should Be. Be One.” — Marcus Aurelius

It is easy to talk about the kind of person we want to become. We can make plans, set goals and promise ourselves that we will be more disciplined, patient, courageous , consistent etc — but eventually, our intentions have to become actions.

Character is not defined by what we say matters to us. It is revealed by what we actually do, especially when following through is inconvenient or uncomfortable.

  • If we say family is important, our time should reflect it.

  • If we value honesty, it should still matter when the truth is difficult.

  • If we want better health, stronger relationships or greater success, our everyday decisions must support those goals.

We cannot continually choose what is easy while expecting to become someone different or better.

This does not mean we need perfection -- everyone has days when we are off —  lose patience or make the wrong decisions. The important thing is for us to recognize this, take responsibility and correct our directions without wasting energy defending or making excuses.

There is also no use in debating what other people should be doing. Let's focus on the one person we can actually control: ourselves.

Every time we keep our word, take responsibility, show restraint or do the difficult thing because it is right, we strengthen that part of our character.

This week, let's spend less time talking about the person we want to be and choose one action that demonstrates it.

Have an amazing week!

Don't Let Someone Else Choose For You

Good Morning All – I hope you had an amazing weekend! As always, I like to start the week off right with some words of motivation or inspiration:

“How People Treat You Is Their Karma; How You React Is Yours.” — Wayne Dyer

We don't get to control how other people behave.

We can't control their attitude, their words, their assumptions, or how they choose to treat us - but we DO get to control something far more important: how we RESPOND.

It's easy to be kind when someone is kind to us, and it's easy to stay calm when everything is going our way. The real test of character comes when someone disappoints us, disrespects us, misunderstands us, or simply doesn't treat us the way we believe we deserve to be treated.

We don't have to match someone else's negativity, win every argument, or prove ourselves to everyone who doubts us. Sometimes the strongest response is simply to stay calm, maintain our standards, set a boundary when necessary, and keep moving forward.

That doesn't mean allowing people to walk all over us. Kindness and self-respect can exist at the same time. We can forgive without forgetting the lesson, walk away without holding a grudge, and stand our ground without becoming bitter.

At the end of the day, other people's actions reveal something about their character - our response reveals something about ours.

So this week, when something doesn't go our way or someone tests our patience, remember that we still get to choose how we respond.

Let’s choose a response to be proud of.

Have an amazing week!

The Most Dangerous Trap We Fall Into

Good Morning All – I hope you had an amazing weekend! As always, I like to start the week off right with some words of motivation or inspiration:

Every day we're surrounded by carefully curated, edited versions of other people's lives.

  • Bigger homes.

  • Better jobs.

  • Exotic vacations.

  • New cars.

  • Picture-perfect relationships.

  • Seemingly effortless success.

The problem isn't that other people have nice things -- the problem is when we convince ourselves that our happiness depends on having what someone else has -- or having even more.

The truth is, there will always be someone who is richer, stronger, younger, smarter, or more successful.

Instead of comparing ourselves to someone else, we need to compare ourselves to the person we were yesterday.

  • Are we healthier than we were a year ago?

  • Have we become more patient?

  • Have we learned something new?

  • Did we help someone this week?

  • Did we take one step closer to our goals?

That's the kind of progress no one can take away from us.

Real success isn't about keeping up with someone else's life or winning someone else's race.

It's about becoming a better version of ourselves.

Have a great week!

The Story You Can't See

Good Morning All – I hope you had an amazing weekend! As always, I like to start the week off right with some words of motivation or inspiration:

"It Is Not The Load That Breaks You Down, It Is The Way You Carry It." — Lou Holtz

Everyone we meet is carrying something. For some of us it's visible -- for others, it's completely hidden.

Someone may be grieving the loss of a loved one while still showing up to work each day. Another may be lying awake at night wondering how they'll pay their bills. A parent may be quietly carrying the responsibility of holding a family together. A friend may be fighting a battle they've never told anyone about.

We rarely know the full story behind someone's appearance.

  • That's why kindness matters.

  • That's why patience matters.

  • That's why compassion matters.

None of us escape hardship. Sooner or later, life places a weight on every set of shoulders. The question isn't whether we'll face difficult seasons—it's who we'll become because of them.

When we're young, we often think strength means never struggling, never doubting, and never feeling overwhelmed. Time has a way of teaching otherwise.

Real strength is found in those who refuse to let burdens determine character.

  • Choosing integrity over bitterness

  • Choosing compassion over being cynical.

  • Choosing hope over doubt.

Maybe that's what Lou Holtz meant -- the weight we carry can test us, but it doesn't have to define us. Every day, we have the opportunity to decide whether our struggles will make us bitter and resentful -- or create wisdom, resilience and compassion.

This week can remind us to be gentler with one another AND with ourselves. We never know what someone else is carrying, and we always have a choice in how we carry our own.

Have a great week!

The Comfort Zone

Good Morning All – I hope you had an amazing weekend! As always, I like to start the week off right with some words of motivation or inspiration:

We all love the comfort zone — it's predictable and familiar -- it feels safe.

There's nothing wrong with feeling comfortable. In fact, we all need moments of rest and stability. The problem comes when comfort quietly becomes a permanent way of life.

Every meaningful achievement starts with discomfort.

  • Learning a new skill.

  • Starting a business.

  • Changing careers.

  • Building healthier relationships.

  • Getting in shape.

  • Having difficult conversations.

  • Buying your first home.

  • Selling the one you've outgrown.

None of these happen by staying where everything feels easy.

Comfort Zone

Life feels safe and under control. We know what to expect, but we also risk becoming stuck if we stay here too long.

Fear Zone

Doubt creeps in. We make excuses and we worry about what others think. We question ourselves. This is where many people turn around, because fear convinces them not to try.

Learning Zone

Things begin to change. You develop new skills, gain knowledge, solve problems, and discover strengths you didn't know you had. Confidence isn't something you wait for—it grows by taking action.

Growth Zone

Goals become reality. Dreams become plans. Purpose becomes clearer. The life you once imagined starts becoming the life you're actually living.

The truth is, growth rarely feels comfortable while it's happening.

This week, challenge yourself to take one small step outside your comfort zone.

  • One conversation.

  • One decision.

  • One action you've been putting off.

  • Just take the next step.

Have a great week!

Let the Mud Settle

Our world often tells us that problems require immediate action.

  • React now.

  • Fix it now.

  • Decide now.

However, is this the best way to approach anything?

Imagine a jar filled with muddy water. If you keep shaking it, the water never becomes clear. Yet if you simply set it down and allow it to rest, the mud naturally settles to the bottom.

Often problem solving works much the same way.

When emotions are running high, our judgment often becomes cloudy. Stress, frustration, disappointment, and uncertainty have a way of stirring up our thoughts until we can't clearly see or think.

Sometimes the wisest plan of action isn't making a forced, quick decision - it's allowing ourselves to have time.

Time to listen, think, and gain perspective.

This doesn't mean avoiding problems or refusing to respond -- it just means recognizing that not every solution appears when we are forced.

This week, if something feels overwhelming:

Resist the urge to REACT -- instead, PAUSE...

Give your mind the time and space to settle — then RESPOND, rather than react.

When the mud settles, the water becomes clear. When your thoughts settle, your next step can become obvious.

You might discover the answer has been there all along, but was hidden in muddy water.

Have a great week!

The Real You

Good Morning All – I hope you had an amazing weekend! As always, I like to start the week off right with some words of motivation or inspiration:

“To be nobody-but-yourself—in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else—means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting.” â€” Edward Estlin Cummings

Every day, we're surrounded by expectations thrust upon us.

  • How we should look.

  • How we should act.

  • What success should look like.

  • What career path we should choose.

  • What milestones we should hit.

Social media - and all other media -- makes it easy to compare our behind-the-scenes lives and struggles to everyone else's highlight reel.

It's no surprise that so many of us feel pressure to fit in.

Living someone else's version of success often comes at a huge cost: peace, confidence, and sense of purpose. The truth is that our greatest advantage is not becoming more like everyone else—it's becoming more of who we already are.

Being authentic means embracing our strengths, accepting our imperfections, and trusting ourselves enough to follow the path that feels right for US.

You don't need permission to be yourself.

Our world doesn't need another copy version of anyone -- it needs the real you.

Have a great week!

What Train Are You On?

Good Morning All – I hope you had an amazing weekend! As always, I like to start the week off right with some words of motivation or inspiration:

“If You Get On The Wrong Train, Get Off At The Nearest Station, The Longer It Takes You To Get Off, The More Expensive The Return Trip Will Be.”

Sometimes we stay in situations far longer than we should — not because they’re good for us, but because we’ve already invested so much:

  • Time

  • Energy

  • Money

  • Emotion

And the longer we stay, the harder it becomes to pivot. One of the biggest mistakes we all make in life is believing we have to keep going because we’ve already gone this far.

Not every path is meant to be permanent.
Not every decision is meant to define us forever.

Sometimes wisdom is recognizing something isn’t working … and sometimes growth means changing direction before more damage is done. Think about:

  • Relationships

  • Career

  • Friendships

  • Business decisions

  • Habits

Even the way we think about ourselves.

A lot of times we stay the path because we are afraid of what others will think OR we are afraid of dealing with the consequences.

But the truth is:

We are allowed to pivot.
We are allowed to outgrow people, situations, and old versions of ourselves.

Sometimes the most powerful move we can can make is simply deciding:
“This is no longer where I want to go.”

Quiet Time

Good Morning All – I hope you had an amazing weekend! As always, I like to start the week off right with some words of motivation or inspiration:

“The Quieter You Become, The More You Are Able To Hear.” Rumi

In our world that is constantly loud, fast, busy, distracted, and demanding our attention, quiet is not easy.

We wake up and check our phones. We rush through the day. We answer messages, deal with work, manage responsibilities, react to problems, and move from one thing to the next - all the time.

And somewhere in all of that noise, we can lose touch with our own thoughts and with what is important. We all need to take time to slow down, think deeply, and sit quietly with our thoughts - when we get quiet we can:

  • Hear what we have been avoiding.

  • Hear the ideas that have been sitting in the background waiting for space.

  • Hear our instincts more clearly.

  • Hear what matters — and what does not.

Sometimes the best thing we can do is step back, create some quiet, and give ourselves room to think - and find clarity.

Taking a moment to breathe, think, pray, journal, walk, sit in silence, or simply unplug can be one of the most productive things we can all do.

Clarity rarely comes when we are overwhelmed - it usually comes when we finally give ourselves enough space to listen.

This week set aside 20 minutes each day for quiet.

  • No phone.

  • No distractions.

  • No noise.

  • Just time to think.

You may be surprised by what you hear when your world gets quiet.

Have a great week!

What Your Excuses Are Really Telling You

Good Morning All – I hope you had an amazing weekend! As always, I like to start the week off right with some words of motivation or inspiration:

"When you start making excuses, that proves that the time has come for you to do the thing you are making the excuses for." Peter Kreeft

When we start making excuses, it often means we already know what needs to be done — we are just avoiding the discomfort of actually doing it.

  • Maybe it is a goal you have been putting off.

  • Maybe it is a decision you know you need to make.

  • Maybe it is a conversation that needs to happen.

  • Maybe it is a change in your business, your health, your relationships, your finances, your home, or your mindset.

Whatever it is, excuses can become our comfortable hiding place. They give us a reason to delay and stay exactly where we are. But the things we keep putting off are often the very things that need our attention most.

This week, let's pay attention to the things we keep saying we will get to eventually. That may be the VERY thing asking for our attention.

  • Make the call.

  • Start the plan.

  • Have the conversation.

  • Clean up the habit.

  • Clean up the room.

  • Ask the question.

  • Get the advice.

  • Take the step.

When we stop hiding behind excuses -- we can start moving toward something better.

Have a great week!

A Negative Mind Will Never Give You A Positive Life

Good Morning All – I hope you had an amazing weekend! As always, I like to start the week off right with some words of motivation or inspiration:

A Negative Mind Will Never Give You A Positive Life

There is a common criticism that comes up whenever people talk about having a positive mindset — some people say being positive is fake or unrealistic — that this ignores the real problems of life.

But that is not what Being Positive is.

Being positive does not mean pretending we have no problems. It does not mean denying reality. It does not mean acting like everything is easy when clearly it is not.

Being Positive is a choice in how we respond.

It is deciding that we are not going to let every problem poison our attitude. It is refusing to let disappointment turn us into bitter people. It is choosing not to complain our way through life and then wonder why everything feels heavy and terrible.

The reality is the opposite is guaranteed: a negative mind will always find something negative.

If you look for problems, you will find them.
If you look for reasons to complain, you will find them.
If you look for reasons to give up, you will find them.
If you look for reasons to be miserable, you will find those too.

Negativity has a way of becoming a filter. Once you see life through it, everything starts to look worse. Small issues become big issues. Temporary setbacks feel permanent. Other people’s mistakes become personal attacks. Opportunities start looking like risks, and blessings start looking like burdens.

That is why our mindset matters.

A positive attitude does not remove problems from our lives, but it changes how we carry them. It gives us room to think and act, and move forward instead of staying stuck — this applies to everything: life, business, relationships, and even real estate.

There will always be challenges. Markets change. Plans shift. Deals get complicated. Life throws curveballs.

But walking into every situation with a negative, downcast, complaining mindset does not make us more realistic. It just makes everything harder.

A better mindset will not solve everything overnight, but it will help you see more clearly, respond better, and find opportunities you may have missed while focusing only on the problems.

Something to think about this week - what attitude are you choosing?

Have a great week!

You Don’t Know Everything — And That’s Okay

Good Morning All – I hope you had an amazing weekend! As always, I like to start the week off right with some words of motivation or inspiration:

Be Teachable. You Don't Know Everything, And You're Not Always Right.

One of the biggest traps in life is thinking we already know enough.

The truth is, the most successful people are not the ones who pretend to have all the answers. They are the ones who stay open, remain humble, and are always willing to learn. Being teachable does not make us weak — it makes us wise.

It means we are confident enough to grow, strong enough to listen, and mature enough to admit when there is a better way.

Growth begins when our ego ends.

There is always something to learn from a conversation, a setback, a different perspective, or even a mistake. The moment we think we know it all is when we stop improving.

This week, challenge yourself to listen more, assume less, and stay open to learning from people, situations, and experiences around you.

Have a great week!
