What Your Excuses Are Really Telling You

Good Morning All – I hope you had an amazing weekend! As always, I like to start the week off right with some words of motivation or inspiration:

"When you start making excuses, that proves that the time has come for you to do the thing you are making the excuses for." Peter Kreeft

When we start making excuses, it often means we already know what needs to be done — we are just avoiding the discomfort of actually doing it.

  • Maybe it is a goal you have been putting off.

  • Maybe it is a decision you know you need to make.

  • Maybe it is a conversation that needs to happen.

  • Maybe it is a change in your business, your health, your relationships, your finances, your home, or your mindset.

Whatever it is, excuses can become our comfortable hiding place. They give us a reason to delay and stay exactly where we are. But the things we keep putting off are often the very things that need our attention most.

This week, let's pay attention to the things we keep saying we will get to eventually. That may be the VERY thing asking for our attention.

  • Make the call.

  • Start the plan.

  • Have the conversation.

  • Clean up the habit.

  • Clean up the room.

  • Ask the question.

  • Get the advice.

  • Take the step.

When we stop hiding behind excuses -- we can start moving toward something better.

Have a great week!

A Negative Mind Will Never Give You A Positive Life

Good Morning All – I hope you had an amazing weekend! As always, I like to start the week off right with some words of motivation or inspiration:

A Negative Mind Will Never Give You A Positive Life

There is a common criticism that comes up whenever people talk about having a positive mindset — some people say being positive is fake or unrealistic — that this ignores the real problems of life.

But that is not what Being Positive is.

Being positive does not mean pretending we have no problems. It does not mean denying reality. It does not mean acting like everything is easy when clearly it is not.

Being Positive is a choice in how we respond.

It is deciding that we are not going to let every problem poison our attitude. It is refusing to let disappointment turn us into bitter people. It is choosing not to complain our way through life and then wonder why everything feels heavy and terrible.

The reality is the opposite is guaranteed: a negative mind will always find something negative.

If you look for problems, you will find them.
If you look for reasons to complain, you will find them.
If you look for reasons to give up, you will find them.
If you look for reasons to be miserable, you will find those too.

Negativity has a way of becoming a filter. Once you see life through it, everything starts to look worse. Small issues become big issues. Temporary setbacks feel permanent. Other people’s mistakes become personal attacks. Opportunities start looking like risks, and blessings start looking like burdens.

That is why our mindset matters.

A positive attitude does not remove problems from our lives, but it changes how we carry them. It gives us room to think and act, and move forward instead of staying stuck — this applies to everything: life, business, relationships, and even real estate.

There will always be challenges. Markets change. Plans shift. Deals get complicated. Life throws curveballs.

But walking into every situation with a negative, downcast, complaining mindset does not make us more realistic. It just makes everything harder.

A better mindset will not solve everything overnight, but it will help you see more clearly, respond better, and find opportunities you may have missed while focusing only on the problems.

Something to think about this week - what attitude are you choosing?

Have a great week!

You Don’t Know Everything — And That’s Okay

Good Morning All – I hope you had an amazing weekend! As always, I like to start the week off right with some words of motivation or inspiration:

Be Teachable. You Don't Know Everything, And You're Not Always Right.

One of the biggest traps in life is thinking we already know enough.

The truth is, the most successful people are not the ones who pretend to have all the answers. They are the ones who stay open, remain humble, and are always willing to learn. Being teachable does not make us weak — it makes us wise.

It means we are confident enough to grow, strong enough to listen, and mature enough to admit when there is a better way.

Growth begins when our ego ends.

There is always something to learn from a conversation, a setback, a different perspective, or even a mistake. The moment we think we know it all is when we stop improving.

This week, challenge yourself to listen more, assume less, and stay open to learning from people, situations, and experiences around you.

Have a great week!

Stop Being Your Own Roadblock

Good Morning All – I hope you had an amazing weekend! As always want to start the week off with some words of motivation or inspiration.

“You have been criticizing yourself for years, and it hasn’t worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens.” — Louise Hay

One of the biggest things holding people back is how they see themselves. We live in a world where people constantly second-guess:

  • “Am I ready?”

  • “What if I make the wrong decision?”

  • “What if I fail?”

But here’s the truth — We don’t build confidence before we act. We build confidence by acting.

The Shift That Changes Everything

Imagine this - instead of criticizing yourself for past decisions, you start approving of where you are today. Instead of focusing on what’s missing, you focus on what’s possible.

This one shift changes how you:

  • Make decisions

  • Handle pressure

  • Move forward

Your Goal This Week

Try this:

  • Catch yourself the moment doubt creeps in

  • Shift that voice to one that supports you

  • Then take one confident step forward anyway

You don’t need to be perfect to move forward — you just need to believe in yourself.

Have an amazing week !

Burn That Bridge

A common misunderstood idea is the phrase “burning bridges.” Most of us immediately think it means anger, conflict, or destroying relationships.

But it doesn't need to mean this. Sometimes burning a bridge simply means making the decision not to go back to anything that is not helping us.

The truth is — some paths only lead us in circles, and real growth often begins the moment we decide we are done with them.

Sometimes the bridge we need to burn isn’t physical at all. It’s the mental bridge that keeps pulling us back to:

  • toxic relationships

  • negative thinking

  • destructive habits

  • limiting beliefs

  • or a life direction that no longer fits who we are

The moment we truly let go of these things, something powerful happens.

We stop looking backward and living in the past. For the first time, our energy is fully focused on the road ahead -- that’s where real progress begins.

Every meaningful change in our lives begins with a decision — the decision to move forward without keeping one foot buried in the past.

What kind of bridges do you need to burn ?

Your Daily Routine

Good Morning All – I hope you had an amazing weekend!

As always, I like to start the week off right with some words of motivation:

“You’ll never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret of your success is found in your daily routine.” — John C. Maxwell

Many people search for the secret to success in big moments — the big decision, the breakthrough idea, or the lucky opportunity.

But the real secret is much quieter - It lives in your daily routine.

Your life today is the result of thousands and thousands of small choices repeated over time. Some examples:

  • What time you wake up.

  • How you start your day.

  • How long you stay focused before allowing distractions to take over.

A structured routine removes the mental friction of constantly deciding what to do next. Instead of reacting to the day, you begin directing it.

One of the greatest writers in history, Leo Tolstoy, understood this deeply. At just 18 years old, he began keeping a journal tracking his daily activities and evaluating how well he used his time.

His days followed a rhythm: early mornings, long walks, focused writing sessions, and disciplined work habits.

His success wasn’t accidental - it was built one routine at a time.

Today we face a different challenge than Tolstoy did.

Constant digital distraction.

Our phones are designed to capture attention. Notifications interrupt our thinking. Social media pulls us into endless scrolling and mind games.

But these distractions comes with a hidden cost. Even a brief interruption can take ten minutes or more to fully regain focus.

The lesson is simple.

  • Protect your time.

  • Delete unnecessary apps.

  • Reduce distractions.

  • Create a daily routine that supports your goals instead of working against them.

Your future isn’t created by occasional bursts of effort. It’s created by what you consistently do every day.

Make the right choice today — not the easy one.

Sincerely,

High Standards

Read this the other day and this one hits me hard.

We all want:

  • Loyalty

  • Honesty

  • Respect

  • Accountabilty

  • Support

  • Transparent communication

  • Trust

But the real question is:

Are we loyal to our own commitments? Are we honest with ourselves? Do we keep our own promises?

The standard always starts internally.

How we:

  • Talk to ourselves after we fall short

  • Show up when motivation disappears

  • Keep our word when it’s inconvenient

  • Act with integrity when no one is watching

  • Hold ourselves accountable without excuses

That becomes OUR ceiling.

In real estate, in business, in relationships ; across all of life —

Our external results mirror our internal mindset.

We need to raise your internal standards and when we do then the external will follow.

Kind Regards,

No Matter Your Age

There’s something funny about time.

  • At 25, we think we’re not ready.

  • At 35, we think we should’ve started at 25.

  • At 45, we wish we had the courage we had at 35 etc etc

And at every stage of life… we think we missed something. No matter our age, here is the truth:

Five years from now, you’ll wish you started today.

Whether it’s:

  • Your health

  • Your faith

  • Your finances

  • A business

  • A move

  • A conversation

  • A habit

The perfect time doesn’t exist. Momentum beats motivation. Action beats overthinking. Today beats tomorrow.

Start now. Even small. Just start.

Being Ready Is a Myth

Good Morning All – I hope you had an amazing weekend!

As always, I like to start the week off right with some words of motivation:

Being Ready is a Myth.

  • You start.

  • You suck.

  • You figure it out.

  • You get better.

This is the honest blueprint behind every achievement. We imagine successful people began with certainty, but the truth is they began with doubt and moved anyway.

In real estate I see this constantly. Buyers hesitate because they don’t feel informed enough. Sellers wait for a “perfect market.” Investors overthink their first move. Yet the best outcomes almost always belong to those who stepped forward before they felt ready.

Progress isn’t linear, but it is inevitable when action becomes a habit.

If you’ve been wondering what your options look like, a simple place to begin is calgaryhomeworth.ca. It’s private, pressure-free, and gives you a realistic snapshot of today’s market so you can plan on your timeline.

Be Proud Of Yourself

Good Morning All – I hope you had an amazing weekend!

As always, I like to start the week off right with some words of motivation:

Be Proud Of Yourself For How Hard You’re Trying.

We live in a results-driven world, but real growth happens long before the results show up. It happens in the habits you’re forming, the discipline you’re building, and the choices you’re making when no one is watching.

Trying isn’t weakness—it’s proof you haven’t quit. Every goal worth achieving—personal, financial, or life-changing—is based your effort and persistence.

Honor the work you’re putting in. It matters more than you realize.

Any Distractions?

Good Morning All – I hope you had an amazing weekend!

As always, I like to start the week off right with some words of motivation:

"If You Don’t Separate Yourself From Your Distractions, Your Distractions Will Separate You From Your Goals And The Life You Want."

Distractions are not always obvious. Most of the time, they look like comfort, routine, or harmless habits. But over time, they quietly create distance between where we are — and where we want to be.

Whether it’s personal growth, financial stability, better health, or greater freedom, every meaningful life choice is shaped by one thing above all else: focus.

Success doesn’t require perfection. It requires intentional choices, repeated daily.

Ask yourself this week:

  • What am I giving my time to that isn’t giving me progress back?

  • What would happen if I protected my focus the same way I protect something I value?

The life you want isn’t built in one big decision — it’s built in small, consistent ones.

Dear Self

Good Morning All – I hope you had an amazing weekend!

As always, I like to start the week off right with some words of motivation:

Dear Self — This is going to be your year. So dust yourself off and get started. Love, Me.

A powerful reminder that our past does not define our future — only our next move does.

Every meaningful change begins the same way: deciding that today matters more than yesterday. Growth doesn’t require perfection, only commitment. When you focus on consistent action instead of perfect timing, progress becomes inevitable.

If you’ve been waiting for the “right moment,” this is it.
